Great Dover Street Residence

Congratulations to me! I am now a resident in the LSE Great Dover Street Residence. The Almighty has been really kind and I guess this is His way of bestowing a "gift" for the fasting (read more under "Happy Eid" below). I couldn't have asked for a better eid gift.

Internet connection. Huge study table. In-room phone. Electrical sockets everywhere, fridge, kitchen opposite the door.

Nice group of flatmates too.

Regards,
Omer.

An experience I would highly recommend to others.

Preferably mature students (as opposed to 18-yr olds) since the exposure and opportunities also bring with them a lot of "distractions" which only age and experience can make you decide the better of.

Post-grad students, especially those who've been out of academia for some time, have this sincerity and drive towards some aim that they have thought about enough to risk a "life/career." The element of risk is very interesting. Everyone seems to have left whatever academic backgrounds they were in, the comfortable jobs and homes they were in to take a "risk" in something they believe in. Fascinating!

Plus you can appreciate the little things better with age. Like crossing the Thames twice everyday (though it can become hard to appreciate that if you're feeling as cold as you've ever felt and late for class too).
